Teams
Organize your monitors and collaborate with your team.
Teams are foundational to UpLogic. They let you organize monitors into groups and share access with others. Every monitor belongs to a team, and every user starts with a default team. You can create additional teams and invite others to collaborate.
Creating a Team
- Open the user menu in the top-right corner
- Click Team, then Manage Teams
- Click Create Team
- Enter a team name and submit
Team names must be unique across your teams (case-insensitive). The number of teams you can create depends on your subscription plan.
Roles and Permissions
Each team member has one of three roles:
| Owner | Editor | Viewer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| View monitors and incidents | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Create, edit, and delete monitors | Yes | Yes | No |
| Manage team members | Yes | No | No |
| Send invitations | Yes | No | No |
| Configure team notifications | Yes | No | No |
| Rename team | Yes | No | No |
| Delete team | Yes | No | No |
| Leave team | No | Yes | Yes |
The person who creates a team is automatically the owner. There is exactly one owner per team, and ownership cannot be transferred. If the ownership of a team needs to be changed, please contact support.
Inviting Team Members
Only the team owner can invite new members.
- Go to Manage Teams and select the team
- Click the Invitations tab
- Enter the person’s email address
- Select a role — Editor or Viewer
- Click Send Invitation
An email is sent to the invitee with a link to accept. Invitations expire after 7 days. You can cancel a pending invitation at any time from the Invitations tab.
If the invitee already has an account, they can log in and accept the invitation directly.
If the invitee doesn’t have an account, the email includes a link to register. After creating an account, they’ll be added to the team automatically.
Pending Invitations
Invitees who are logged in will see a notification badge indicating they have a pending invitation. They can accept it directly from there without needing the email link.
Managing Team Members
From the Members tab on the team page, the owner can:
- Change a member’s role — Switch between Editor and Viewer using the role dropdown
- Remove a member — Click Remove next to their name and confirm
The owner’s role cannot be changed, and the owner cannot be removed.
Leaving a Team
Non-owner members can leave a team at any time:
- Go to Manage Teams and select the team
- Click Leave Team
- Confirm the action
After leaving, you’ll no longer have access to the team’s monitors. The team owner cannot leave their own team — they must delete it instead.
Switching Between Teams
If you belong to multiple teams, you can switch between them:
- Open the user menu in the top-right corner
- Click Team
- Select the team you want to view
Alert Subscriptions
The team owner always receives email notifications for all monitors in the team. Other team members can opt in to receive alerts:
- Click the bell icon in the top-right header
- Confirm that you want to subscribe
Once subscribed, you’ll receive the same down and recovery alerts as the team owner. Click the bell icon again to unsubscribe. For more details, see Email Notifications.
Team Settings
From the team page, the owner has access to:
- General — Rename the team
- Members — View and manage team members
- Invitations — Send and manage invitations
- Notifications — Assign Slack and Google Chat webhooks to the team
- Settings — Delete the team
Deleting a Team
Only the team owner can delete a team.
- Go to Manage Teams and select the team
- Click the Settings tab
- Click Delete Team and confirm
Deleting a team permanently removes all of its monitors, incidents, team members, and pending invitations. This action cannot be undone.
Plan Limits
Your subscription plan determines:
- Maximum teams — How many teams you can create
- Maximum team members — How many people you can invite across all your teams (the owner does not count toward this limit)
If you’ve reached your limit, you’ll need to upgrade your plan or remove existing teams or members before adding more.
