Email Notifications
How email alerts are delivered when your monitors detect problems.
Email notifications are enabled by default for all monitors. When a monitor detects a problem, the team owner and any subscribed team members receive an email alert. A recovery email is sent when the issue is resolved.
Who Receives Email Notifications
Team Owner
The team owner always receives email notifications for all monitors in the team. This cannot be disabled.
Team Members
Other team members (editors and viewers) do not receive email notifications by default. To subscribe:
- Log in to your monitoring dashboard
- Click the bell icon in the top-right header
- A confirmation dialog will appear — click Subscribe
Once subscribed, you’ll receive the same alerts as the team owner. To unsubscribe, click the bell icon again and confirm.
When Notifications Are Sent
HTTP Monitor Alerts
- Down alert: Sent after 2 consecutive failed checks. A single failed check does not trigger a notification — this avoids false alarms from transient network issues.
- Recovery alert: Sent when the monitor returns a successful check after being down. Includes the total downtime duration.
SSL Certificate Alerts
Notifications are sent when your SSL certificate reaches certain expiration thresholds:
- 21 days before expiration — Early warning
- 7 days before expiration — Urgent warning
- 1 day before expiration — Critical warning
- Expired — Certificate has expired
- Invalid — Certificate validation failed (e.g., wrong hostname, broken chain)
If the certificate isn’t renewed, the severity escalates automatically and a new notification is sent at each threshold. A recovery notification is sent when the certificate is renewed or the issue is resolved.
Domain Expiration Alerts
Similar to SSL alerts, notifications are sent at these thresholds:
- 30 days before expiration — Early warning
- 7 days before expiration — Urgent warning
- 1 day before expiration — Critical warning
- Expired — Domain registration has expired
- Invalid — Domain lookup failed
A recovery notification is sent when the domain is renewed.
Notification Limits
Each plan includes a monthly email notification limit. This is a rolling 30-day window applied to the team owner’s account. When you approach or exceed your limit, you’ll receive a one-time warning email. Quota warning emails do not count against your limit.
Webhook Notifications
In addition to email, you can receive alerts in Slack or Google Chat:
